What's Next for FirstNet?

All 50 states, two U.S. territories, and Washington, D.C. leaders have opted-in to the state plans for FirstNet, a national public safety network. The FirstNet network will be a reliable, secure broadband network dedicated to public safety. It will help law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS save lives and protect communities across the United States. FirstNet Goes Nationwide

Leaders in all 50 states, two U.S. territories, and Washington, D.C. have opted-in for a unified wireless broadband network that will give first responders streamlined communications and priority status during emergencies. Dubbed “FirstNet” the new public safety network was conceived after issues arose with communications during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Congress passed legislation to establish the Network in 2012, and for the past five years, the First Responder Network Authority worked closely with public safety to develop customized plans for building the Network in each state and territory. ...
