FirstNet: Priority Issues Likely Limited to Secondary Users

The Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) is studying the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN). Its task is to understand the network’s capacity especially during times of disaster. In an article from Urgent Communications, “FirstNet LTE  sites should provide enough bandwidth capacity to serve the needs of public safety users in almost all response scenarios,” per findings by PSAC. FirstNet: RFP Approved by FirstNet Board

According to an article in Telecompaper, “The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board has announced approval of the Request for Proposal (RFP) to deploy the nationwide public safety broadband network (NPSBN) and directed management to take all necessary actions to release the RFP in early January.” The article states that, “The FirstNet RFP is objectives based and incorporates public safety’s needs for a nationwide broadband network.
